  I work for a University (which could be considered a bit like a company) and have worked at universities as a post-graduate student or researcher for about 15 years. I don’t have a lot of experience (6 months) working in ‘corporate’ companies. Universities are great places to work as they encourage free thinking and allow you the freedom to pursue any direction that you like in your research. It is also a diverse career, that involves teaching as well as research.
