      Hi sammyrane123
It’s all down to the environment in which they are growing. At the moment, climate change is having a big impact on plant species throughout the world. For example, if you think about dry areas which don’t get much rainfall, plants like the cactus are able to survive because they can store lots of water (for years) and use that until the next rainfall. Plants that are more likely to survive drought (lack of water) will also do other things like closing their stomata during the day, or they may have a waxy layer on their leaves to prevent water loss.
